Skeletal A-P Classification (Fig. 8) The clinician can determine the relative horizontal AP relationship of Point A to Point B. A is used in orthodontics to represent the ante-rior position of the Maxilla, while B represents the most anterior position of the Mandible. (Comment: while traditional orthodontic cephalometric analyses use these numbers they are not always perfect even though they are the accepted standard). When correcting the Class II, the clinician will simply advance the mandible to the correct Class I relation. Therefore, if your patient’s B point is 5 mm posterior to A point, you would simply advance the Mandible 5 mm and take the Bite Registration. When A and B are within 3 mm= Class I. When B is 3 mm or more to posterior to A=Class II. When B is 3 mm or more to anterior of A=Class III. Fig. 7 Scan show 4/5 technique in a Down and forward position that Corrects Skeletal A to B represented by the Red cylinder. 2. Jankelson. 3. Gerber, Comprehensive Course Manual, 2018 4. Clinical usage has proven the worthiness of this appliance many times over. Finally, the GPF is rather easy to construct and most orthodontic/TMD laborato-ries are familiar with the appliance. This appli-ance appears to be the quickest avail-able. When using the GPF, the patient can be observed consistently replicating the normal chewing cycle and advanced jaw position.
