CASE STUDY Fig. 5 Fig. 6 ᕨ Archwire sequence ᕩ Level, align and rotate µ Finish to Class I occlusion ¸ Retention planned upper/lower Hawley retainers Estimated Treatment Time 48 months depending on eruption/exfoliation time (Fig. 5 and Fig. 6) Case Summary & Analysis (Figs. 7–17) S.K.’s treatment began by placing molar bands on teeth #’s 3, 14, 19 and 30. Straightwire (.022) appli-ances were bonded onto #’s 23, 24, 25 and 26. An NPE was placed into the lingual slots of #’s 3 and 14. The lower arch received an .016 x .016 NiTi UAW. After two months, an .016 NiTi UAW was added along with bonding brackets on #’s 7, 8, 9, and 10. Each appointment increment was initially every four weeks. As wires were changed, advancement was built into the UAW’s in both the upper and lower arches. One year into treatment, the upper had a straightwire of .016ss and brackets placed on the right and left premolars along with open coil spring to open spaces for #6 and #11. A mid-treatment scan was taken to check the position of those teeth. The scan showed the cuspids were lined up nicely in their respective spots and a little more space was needed to facilitate their eruption. The lower arch Fig. 7 Fig. 8 10 Winter 2018 JAOS
