She has been a member of AOS since 1998 and previously served the AOS in executive leadership roles such as member of the Board of Diplomates (2015-2020) and President of Board of diplomates (2019-2020) and AOS Executive Board Member (2008-2012). Dr. Anissi is currently a Diplomate of both the AOS and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine where she is board-certified. In these roles, she has had the opportunity to lecture and provide a board review course on various dental and orthodontic topics. Dr. Anissi has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years and has her own private practice in Rochester, NY where she provides her patients with a variety of care options encompassing general dentistry, orthodontics, and dental sleep medicine. Dr. Anissi has a particular interest in the role of dentistry and orthodontics in sleep apnea treatment. She hopes to be able to share her passion and work with colleagues to train dentists in this area and provide patients with tailored orthodontic care. Graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio in 1992, he acquired two years of continuing education in orthodontics with the Academy of Gp Orthodontic in 1998 and gained Invisalign certification in 2002. Dr. Gerhardt is an orthodontic instructor for AGpO, publishing numerous articles on the subject. He is a member of the ADA, TDA, Capital Area Dental Society and AGpO. Ralph Nicassio, DDS, graduated from UCLA in 1985. Dr. Nicassio has maintained a private practice focused on orthodontics and prosthodontics for 34 years. He has taught over 800 full days of contin-uing education in 19 different countries internationally and through-out the United States and Canada. He has been a consultant for fellow general dentists all over the world and has diagnosed over 40,000 comprehensive orthodontic cases. The objective of his courses is to teach the Gp Orthodontics to the same standard of care as a specialist with clarity, wisdom and sense-of-humor. There is emphasis on customized orthodontic treatment planning to minimize the need for compliance and minimize treatment time. Svante Twetman, DDS, is a pediatric dentist and professor of cariology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from the dental school in 1974 and holds the PhD and Odont doctorate degree from Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. He is currently the Director of the Maxillofacial Unit at Halland Hospital in Sweden. The research interest is fluoride and microbial aspects on oral ecology, biofilms and risk assessment/caries prevention in children and young adults. His research has to a large extent been performed in clinical settings and he has led research teams that systematically have collected clinical data for further laboratory studies. Dr. Twetman has authored and co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers and lectured in all continents. He is a consultant of the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment and involved in systematic reviews and evidence-based guidelines. Maria Zavala, RDA, BA, has earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University, Long Beach. Maria graduated from the Dental Assistant Program at Cerritos College in 1991. With over 20 years of experience in the dental field, Maria currently works in a general dental practice and orthodontics. Maria has over teaching experience in orthodontics program for dental assistants and currently works with general doctors doing in-office consultations.
