As a little kid, the idea of having a boat with two of every animal was a fascinating concept. In this story, in the book of Genesis, Noah was told by God to build the ark because He was going to destroy the world through a massive flood. So, Noah gathered two of every kind of animal and put them on the ark to replenish the world after the floodwaters receded. As I was thinking of this story recently, an important principle struck me. Noah heard the message had a plan and started building before a cloud appeared in the sky. I can’t help but feel that many people know that they should continue their orthodontic learning or sharpen their orthodontic skills but they are waiting for the right moment to start. So, instead of building immediately and getting themselves positioned and improved and ready for when the “storm” arrives, they wait until the clouds appear. Instead of working to have their orthodontic and regular practice operating effectively to reach its full potential and move to the next level, they hesitate, afraid to move forward. So, here is the important thing to note from this story. If you wait until the clouds appear, you’ll be too late and you probably won’t be able to complete your task. So, start now. Get moving doing something that will get you closer to your goals of a great orthodontic practice. The Annual Meetings offered to you by our great organizations this year are a perfect start to sharpening your orthodontic knowledge. After last year’s pandemic hiatus, get moving again on attaining your Tier Advancement and achievement goals. As you put together your cases to present, you will learn so much and become a better practitioner. Sign up to hear some of the great lectures and presentations and meet with all the great industry reps at the yearly meeting this Fall. In addi-tion, do not forget to also sign up for one of the outstanding advanced or informative courses offered by the AOS or AGpO. You have all the information that you need, so don’t wait any longer. John F. Kennedy once said, “The time to repair your roof is when the sun is shining.” The sun is shining now. So, you may not think you need to repair the roof or start on an ark. But in my thirty-plus years of practic-ing dentistry and orthodontics, I have weathered three recessions, a number of economic bubbles burst-ing, and a pandemic. Building a great base especially with orthodontics will keep you afloat and dry when the rains come. It may take time to complete your task of Tier Advance-ment and finishing the courses and lectures that will bring your orthodontic treatment to the next level. For much of that time, you will look to the sky and it will be blue and some people will think that you are crazy. But if you keep building, keep progressing, keep growing and keep repairing, when the clouds begin to appear (and they often do), your hard work and faith will be rewarded. I’ll be looking for you at this year’s Annual Meeting. EDITORIAL STAFF Greg Cannizzo, DDS ....................... AGpO Editor Jordan Balvich, DMD ........................
