AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Register for Two-Day Tip-Edge Advanced Course The Academy has put together a two-day advanced lecture course to help take your Tip -Edge ortho-dontic practice to the next level. Dr. Jeffrey Gerhardt is teaching this course on July 27-28, 2018 in conjunction with the yearly Orthodontic Assistant training course at the Marriott Legacy Town Center in Plano, TX. This advanced course is intended for graduates of the 12-session hands on course as well as experi-enced Tip-Edge practitioners. Dr. Gerhardt will discuss diagno-sis and how to better think about and simplify diagnosis from the early mixed dentition to adult cases. In addition, he will look at the Kesling's new TNL Bracket System (straight wire) and its uses in your practice either by itself or in conjunction with Tip-Edge. Also, he will delve into the biomechanics of Tip-Edge treatment to help you with making the decision on which bracket system to use for each case that presents in your office. Dr. Gerhardt will also discuss Stage 1 techniques for opening bites, Stage II and achiev-ing a Class 1 molar rela-tionship and Stage III finishing techniques. This course will take you beyond the Tip-Edge guide with information from evidence-based literature and the combination of Tip-Edge and Straight Wire techniques for supe-rior results. The course will run in conjunction with the Advanced Lecture Course on July 26-29 at the Marriott Legacy Town Center. This course is intended for assistants with little orthodontic training as well as a refresher course for more experienced assis-tants. The course will give the chair side dental assistant a better understanding of orthodontics and the Differential Straight Arch (Tip-Edge) Technique. Dental assistants will be work-ing in pairs on study casts from your office along with typodonts from the Academy. Assistants will learn how to apply brackets, bands and auxiliaries using the Tip-Edge System.
