AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Academy Holds First of Two Assistant's Courses for 2014 in Chicago The Academy held its first of two Assistant's Courses for 2014 in Chicago, April 24 -27 at the Chicago Magnificent Mile Marriott. Course instructor Dr. Charles Young presided over the course. Eighteen assistants attended this intensive four-day course which included orthodon-tic staff training with an optional half day session cover-ing cephlametric training and model analysis for the orthodon-tic assistant. This summer the second assistant's course will take place in Plano Texas on Jul 31-August 3. The Texas course will run from July 31 to August 3, 2014. The course is intended for assis-tants with little orthodontic train-ing as well as a refresher course for more experienced assistants. The course will give the chair side assis-tant a better understanding of orthodontics and the Differential Straight Arch (Tip-Edge) Technique. Assistants will be working in pairs on study casts from your office along with typodonts from the Academy. Assistants will learn how to apply brackets, bands and auxiliaries using the Tip-Edge System. Dr. Young will cover the Tip-Edge stages of treatment, trac-ing of cephalometric x-rays and model analysis for the diagnosis of arch length discrepancy. The Academy will supply a T.P. Orthodontics supply kit, which includes bracket kits, a straight shooter and a carousel dispenser (a value of over $300 for these items alone, which you take home).
