ORTHODONTIC PEARLS t w o Spa rk CaSeS Following is a look at two simple patient cases addressed using Spark clear aligners. A. 66-Year-Old Woman The patient presented with mild crowding and a posterior crossbite. Treatment: We completed a 0.2-mm interproximal reduction in the lower arch from a mesial of 3-3 and expanded both arches. The treatment period was eight months; one refinement was required. B. Teenage Boy The patient presented with a molar Class III abnormality with a posterior crossbite. Treatment: We completed a 0.2-mm interproximal reduction in the lower arch from mesial to mesial of 5-5 to help with the Class III abnormality. We expanded the upper arch for crossbite correction, and the patient wore Class III elastics to help correct the horizontal relationship. To finish, we settled the bite with retainers made using a 3D printer at our office. The treatment period was approximately one year; two refinements were required. www.orthodontics.com Spring 2025 9
