Fig. 40 Fig. 42 Fig. 41 “Being able to predict what the treatment response will be to the mechanics being used in a case is huge. If a case is too complex, consider referring it out.” Line points 1, 2, 14,5, 6, 12, 11, 9 and 3 were described in this article. Additional tools that I use when diagnosing and treatment planning an orthodontic case were also described. In article 3 of the series, I will describe bottom line points 4, 13, 7, 8 and 10. As discussed earlier if you are new to the Sassouni + Analysis, don’t get bogged down initially by the minutiae of each bottom-line point. Once you gain experience using this analysis, the fine points start to become crystal clear. Fig. 43 tal vertical dimensions are normal, deep, and open. Keep in mind that the incisor overbite present in a case is inde-pendent of the skeletal vertical dimension. In many cases a deep dental bite and a deep skeletal verti-cal dimension may present (Fig. 43). However, a patient may present with a deep dental bite and an open skeletal vertical dimension (Fig. 44). These conditions combined with a clockwise growth pattern present a very difficult case. You must have the necessary tools in your toolbox to treat a complex case as this. At the very least a practitioner must assess the dental incisor relation-ship, the growth direction pattern and the existing skeletal vertical dimension when diagnosing and treatment planning a case. Being able to predict what the treatment response will be to the mechanics being used in a case is huge. If a case is too complex, consider referring it out. Fig. 44 4.
