Bergersen, DDS Dr. Bergersen received his D.D.S. and M.S.D. degrees from Northwestern University and taught for 25 years in the graduate orthodontic department as an assistant professor. His specialties are growth and development, cephalometrics and interceptive orthodontics. He designed, advised and supervised research projects at Northwestern University, Tufts University, University of San Paulo, Bauru, Brazil and Turku University in Finland. He has guest lectured at over 35 dental schools, published over 450 articles in various journals and has given 450 seminars worldwide. Dr. Bergersen had a practice limited to orthodontics for 30 years in Winnetka, Illinois and is a retired member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Angle Society. Dr. Bergersen is the inventor of the appliances mentioned in this article and is Chairman of the Board of Ortho-Tain, Inc. but has no financial interest in the company and receives no monetary compensation. Jeff Elenberger, DDS, is a practicing orthodontist and has been treating patients in Rocklin, CA since 1993. He received his DDS from Georgetown University in 1989 with Magna cum laude honors. He later went on to attend SUNY Buffalo where he obtained his certificate in orthodontics. Dr. Elenberger is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and the California Association of Orthodontists. He resides in Folsom, CA with his wife and three children. Chris Farrell, BDS, graduated from Sydney University in 1971 having gained a comprehensive knowledge of traditional orthodontic treatment using the BEGG technique. As a result of his clinical experience he became interested in TMJ/TMD disorder and after further research discovered the etiology of malocclusion and TMJ disorder was myofunctional, which contradicted the established view of his profession. Dr Farrell founded Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC) in 1989 with the intent to develop a myofunctional orthodontic system targeted at treating the upper airway and neuromuscular dysfunction causing malocclusion. Dr Farrell’s Myobrace ® and Trainer treatment systems have proven extremely effective at providing early, preventive pre-orthodontic treatment and are now used by dental professionals in more than 100 countries. Ben Miraglia, DDS, graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He is a proud member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Dr. Miraglia completed a general practice residency program at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut and has 20 years of private practice experience in Mt. Kisco, New York, where his focus has been on early childhood growth and development. Dr. Miraglia lectures nationally on childhood sleep disorder breathing and its impact on the development of the maxilla, mandible and airway. Dr. Miraglia was recently honored with a position on the President’s Council of Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY. Dr. Miraglia and his wife Lisa have three beautiful children; Madison, Max and Molly. Randy K. Newby, DDS, is a Diplomate of the AOS and has practiced orthodontics for 30 years and has completed over 2,000 cases. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1976, and the Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1980. He has completed the Master Program in implant dentistry at the GIDE Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Newby practices multidisciplinary dentistry in Mount Hope, KS, a small community outside of Wichita with his associate Katie L. Neidig, DDS, an AOS member. Tif Qureshi, BDS, is the President Elect of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Rafael Rondon, RDH, BS has been working in the dental field for over 26 years. He spent the early part of his career working in a hospital setting and private practice.
