CONTRIBUTOR BIOGRAPHIES Elizabeth Briceño, DMD is specialized in pediatric dentistry. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida International University and earned her Doctorate in Medical Dentistry degree at Nova Southeastern University. After working in Boston for 2 years as a general dentist, her passion for working with children grew and motivated her to pursue an advanced education in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas School of Dentistry. She gradu-ated with a Masters in Pediatric Dentistry for her research explor-ing pediatricians involvement in a child’s oral health care. Dr. Briceño has been working at Echeverri Dental Center for over a year, and loves being a part of this great team. Dr. Briceño is committed to helping children feel comfortable in the dental office. Leonard J. Carapezza, DMD is a Diplomate of the AOS and has over 25 years of clinical experience in pediatric orthodontics and operates a successful private practice in Wayland, MA. He has degrees from Brandeis University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He served as a Teaching Fellow at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and received a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Children’s Hospital. Dr. Carapezza is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and a contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry . His lecture experience includes the Senior Certified Instructor for both the American Orthodontic Society (AOS) and International Association for Orthodontics (IAO). Elsa Alfonzo-Echeverri, DDS, FAAPD, is the Vice President of Echeverri Dental Center in Houston, TX. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is an international speaker having made presentations in Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Spain and the USA. Juan Carlos Echeverri, DDS, FAOS, After earning his DDS in his native country of Colombia, Dr. Echeverri moved to the US to pursue graduate studies. He received his Certificate of Maxillofacial Prosthetic Dentistry from LSU School of Dentistry in 1989 and his DDS from UT-Houston in 1992. Fluent in Spanish and English, he has lectured in Colombia, Venezuela, and Spain, in addition to the US and has published articles in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Journal of the American Orthodontic Society. His private practice in Houston focuses on a comprehensive approach to the treatment of patients, including restorative, prosthetic, and implant dentistry, as well as minor oral surgery and orthodontics. Dr. Echeverri is a Diplomate of the AOS and currently serves on the Board. David W. Jackson, DDS, FAGD, IBO, graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1978. Dr. Jackson, a member of AOS and AGpO, as well as other professional organizations, lectures exten-sively for the American Orthodontic Society and the International Association for Orthodontics. His insight to the real world of orthodontics in the general practice is honest and informative. Keith Wilkerson, DDS, MS, attended the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and received his dental degree in 1990. He completed both a residency in pediatric dentistry and a Master’s of Science degree from Baylor College of Dentistry and Baylor University in 1994. He has been board certi-fied by the ABPD since 2000. Keith has been using the Tip-Edge ® technique since his 1994 graduation from the Academy’s Hands-On Course. He is an AGpO Diplomate and past president. Keith lives in Midland, TX, where he has been in private practice since 1993.
