CASE REPORT Fig. 21 Fig. 22 Fig. 26 Fig. 23 Fig. 24 Fig. 25 rotation of # 14 with an NPE appli-ance ® (Ortho Organizers). This correction took 2 months, after which time the patient was debonded and placed into retention using Clear Essix ACE ® Plastic retainers (Dentsply Raintree Essix Glenroe) made and delivered on the same day, at the office (Fig 26). The lower arch was treated with a straight arch wire sequence (AWS), including distal bends to prevent further proclination of the mandibular incisors. At the time of final records, the patient had achieved a Class I dental occlusion, with very adequate overjet and overbite. Her face was balanced and the facial and dental esthetics were improved. She and her family were pleased with the results and the initial objectives were met (Figs. 30-33). Follow up visits have taken place, and it has been observed that the patient continues with a stable Class I dental occlusion. For the retention phase, the patient was placed in Essix ACE ® Fig. 27 plastic retainers (Dentsply Raintree Essix Glenroe ® ). She was asked to use them for two solid months, except during eating and hygiene times. After two months, the patient was instructed to use them only during sleeping time. Her final records were taken during an appointment scheduled for evalua-tion of treatment results and reten-tion usage. Her post treatment cephalometric tracing revealed a Class II skeletal relationship based on the ANB measurement of 8, increasing 1 degree, and a stable SNB, thus Fig. 28 Fig. 29 www.orthodontics.com m November/December November/ r December 2012 23
