ORTHO INDUSTRY NEWS CDT Code for Resin Infiltration Gives Practices Additional Treatment and Billing Options New Pricing & Options For Practitioners From ClearCorrect The American Dental Associa-tion (ADA) announced recently that resin infiltration of incipient smooth surface lesions is now covered by a 2013 CDT Code clas-sification. The newly defined clas-sification allows practices to accu-rately code and bill for Icon® by DMG America, a resin infiltration technology that fills, reinforces, and stabilizes demineralized enamel for the purpose of arrest-ing the progression of incipient carious lesions and removing cari-ogenic white spots. Resin infiltra-tion is a new treatment that has been gaining popularity as an alternative treatment that ends the “wait and see” approach to caries management, without having to “drill and fill.” Icon is the first product to bridge the gap between prevention (fluoride therapy) and traditional caries restoration. Icon’s micro-invasive infiltration technology can be used to treat facial and proximal carious lesions up to the first third of dentin (D-1). Classifi-cation from the ADA gives more practices the ability to offer their patients a less invasive, pain free alternative to aggressive treatment 8 January/February 2013 JAOS techniques. This treatment is performed in a single visit without drilling, anesthesia or the sacrifice of healthy tooth structure. Clini-cians can immediately treat upon discovery versus waiting to see whether the caries will progress. The official classification defines resin infiltration as: Application of a resin material engineered to penetrate and fill the sub-surface pore system of an incipient caries lesion to strengthen, stabilize, and limit the lesion's progression, as well as mask visible white spots. “We see Icon gaining popularity among practices and patients as it provides a drill-free approach to incipient lesions and offers a highly esthetic alternative to microabra-sion and other restorative treat-ments for cariogenic white spot lesions.” said Tim Haberstumpf, Director of Marketing for DMG America. “White spot lesions infil-trated by Icon take on the appear-ance of the surrounding healthy enamel,” added Haberstumpf. ClearCorrect, a manufacturer of clear aligners, recently announced new treatment options that will provide the greatest combination of affordability, flexibility, and predictability ever offered for clear aligners. The new treatment options include: Limited 6 — $395. The new Limited 6 will be the most affordable clear aligner treatment option in the industry. It’s ideal for simple anterior adjustments. The $395 lab fee covers up to 6 sets of clear aligners (single or dual arch). Like all ClearCorrect cases, it also includes a treatment setup, Phase Zero (initial passive aligners), and retainers. That's more aligners than the competi-tion, offered at a lower price. $395 is not a limited-time promotion—it's the everyday lab fee. Limited 12 — $695. This includes up to 12 steps of clear aligners, plus a treat-ment setup, Phase Zero, and retainers. There’s no fee for revisions, as long as the case stays under 12 total aligners. Up to 2 replacement aligners are now included at no extra cost. Unlimited — $1095. This one is a biggie. The Unlimited is the most flex-ible and predictable. It’s pretty simple to explain: the doctor gets as many aligners as needed, until the case is closed. That includes unlimited revi-sions for up to 3 years and replace-ments for any aligner at no extra cost. Some restrictions apply; see terms & conditions for details. ClearCorrect will also be offering case evaluations and standalone treat-ment setups to lower the barrier to entry even further for doctors and their patients. And doctors can upgrade any case to a more comprehensive treat-ment option just by paying the differ-ence in initial lab fees. It's the same great ClearCorrect product, now even more flexible and doctor-friendly. For more information, call (888) 331-3323 or visit clearcorrect.com.
