Fig. 4 Case Summary On 08/11/2020, the patient was band and bracketed after our taking an impression for a habit appliance. (Fig. 3) Then niti wires were placed to level and align the teeth with a passive start. The habit appliance was delivered on 09/08/2020 and red elastics were placed on the upper/lower circles to help close the bite. (Fig. 4) At his next appointment on 10/14/2020, the niti wires were swapped out for .016 stainless steel wires. The habit appliance broke and was removed by the patient. The open bite is closed and was measured from the upper to lower wire at the midline on 11/25/2020. The measurement was 11 mm. Mild reverse sweeps were placed in the upper wire while the lower wire was left flat. If the bite is found to be opened up more at the next visit, then a new appli-ance was to be made at the patient’s expense. The arch wires were stepped occlusally and red elastic wear was continued for the next two appointments until the bite was closed. (Fig. 5) By 4/12/2021, sidewinders were ready to be placed on teeth #7, #10 and #13. Green Class II Elastics were started and continued with up and down red elastics to keep the bite closed. This was continued for six months. (Fig. 6) On 10/13/2021, the elastics were changed from Class II to a Class III green wear then to yellow Class III elastics at the next visit in November. By 05/16/22, we were ready for removal of the upper and lower appliances. (Fig. 7) Photos, scans, pano and Ceph were taken (Figs. 8 and 9) and upper and lower Trutain retainers were made and delivered with a lower bonded retainer placed on 06/08/2021.
