AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS Pediatric Dentists From Across the U.S. Meet in Hawaii The American Academy of Pedi-atric Dentistry (AAPD) held its 71st Annual Session May 24 to 27 at the Hawaii Convention Center, offer-ing attendees the opportunity to learn, grow and bring many “pearls” home with them. Founded in 1947, the AAPD is a not for-profit professional membership association representing the specialty of pediatric dentistry. Besides having several members in attendance, the AOS also provided experienced instruction. Following the close of the AAPD meeting in Honolulu, 60 pediatric dentists traveled to the island of Kauai, known as the Garden Isle. There they were treated to a one-day Early Treatment Symposium, endorsed by the AAPD and taught by AOS instructors Dr. Ed Gonza-lez, Dr. Elsa Echeverri and Dr. Leonard Carapezza. Hosted by AOS President Dr. Paul Winborn and moderated by Dr. Heber Simmons, the symposium provided attendees with immediate takeaways for their pediatric patients and an enjoyable stay at one of the island’s most beautiful resorts, the Grand Hyatt Kauai. 46 Summer 2018 JAOS
