AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS AOS Upcoming Orthodontic Courses Dr. Brad Williams begins his popu-lar Level 1: Basic Straight Wire Orthodontics course in Dallas August 26 – 28. This five-session course will give you the skills and confidence to treat 70% of orthodontic cases that present themselves in your practice. Starting with understanding the Straight Wire Orthodontic System to case finishing and retention, this comprehensive course will set you on your path to treating orthodontic patients! (100 CDE hours) Susan Coffey, RDA, will be conduct-ing her Advanced Orthodontic Assistant Training Course August 5 – 7 in conjunction with the last session of Dr. Brad’s Level 2 course in Dallas. In this class, Susan covers appliance place-ment, removing bands and brackets, smart scheduling and profitability, among many other essential topics. (20 CDE hours) Robin Schmidbauer, CDA, EFDA, offers her assistant courses this fall in Nashville. Her Basic Straight Wire for Assistants, Sept. 16 & 17, covers understanding of instruments, proper record-taking, correct placement of brackets and wires, and patient care of braces. The Advanced , Nov. 4 & 5, covers cephalometrics, archwire sequence and placement, and the MDA. These are just some of the valu-able subjects covered in these classes. (13 CDE hours each) Dr. Ed Gonzalez is taking his Early Treatment for the Pediatric and General Dentis t on a North American tour this year! After Chicago, July 29 & 30, he'll conduct this energetic weekend course again in Carlsbad, CA, Novem-ber 4 & 5, and Atlanta, December 2 & 3. Be able to identify when Phase I treatment must be started or referred AND begin providing Phase I treatment at the conclusion of this course. (14 CDE hours) Dr. Leonard Carapezza is also going on tour in the fall! He'll take his Early Treatment of Malocclusion Utility Archwire Course to Chicago October 21 & 22 and then to Dallas November 11 & 12. This two-day hands-on lecture will give the clinician the ability to treat 90% of the common dento-alveo-lar problems that are evident in 7 out of 10 pediatric patients. (14 CDE hours) Dr. Rick J. DePaul’s NEW Power-Prox Six Month Braces course will be offered in Dallas, Nov. 11 & 12. Learn to treat and correct severe crowd-ing, spacing problems, deep bites, open bites, Class I, II, III malocclusions quickly and efficiently using Powerprox Six Month Braces. (14 CDE hours) Dr. Williams will take his Case Finishing class to Orlando November 18 & 19, the weekend before Thanks-giving. Why? This intensive two-day program will cover in detail, the seating and activa-tion of the MDA in both arches and the Nitanium Palatal Expander.
