CONTRIBUTOR BIOGRAPHIES Tam Issa-Abbas, DDS, FAGD is a practitioner of general dentistry and orthodontics based in San Antonio, TX. She earned her degree from the Ohio State University (OSU) College of Dentistry in 2011. Following her graduation, she dedicated a year to full-time Fellowship in the Implant Prosthodontics clinic at OSU. Dr. Issa-Abbas achieved her Invisalign certification in 2013, pursued additional studies with Dr. Rondeau in the same year, and completed a comprehensive 12-session course with the Academy of Gp Orthodontics from 2015 to 2017, along with the Early Treatment course in 2017-2018. Actively involved in professional organizations, she holds memberships with the ADA, TDA, AGD, IAO, and the Academy of Gp Orthodontics. Rachelle E. Beattie, PhD is a microbial ecologist whose research focuses on harnessing the power of microorganisms to understand and improve environmental and human health. Dr. Beattie currently serves as the lead of Research and Development for ProBiora Health where she uses her expertise in microbial ecology to evaluate the role of probiotics in the oral microbiome. Driven by her commitment to consumer transparency, Dr. Beattie contributes novel insights into the science behind probiotic products on the market and evaluates their effectiveness for improved oral health outcomes. Mark L. Cannon, DDS, MS, is pediatric dentist, practitioner, lecturer, instructor and researcher. Dr. Cannon is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN and a Professor of Otolaryngology at the Division of Dentistry, Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, as well as an Attending Physician at Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital. In addition, he is a member of the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry, a founder of Associated Dental Specialists of Long Grove and Research Coordinator of the Pediatric Dental Residency Program at Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL. Dr. Cannon has 45 years of experience in pediatric dentistry and has presented national and international lectures on many oral health topics, including evolutionary oral medicine, the gateway microbiomes, biological and bioactive dental materials (patents owner), probiotics, and all aspects of everyday pediatric oral and systemic health. Leonard J. Carapezza, DMD, is a Diplomate of the AOS and has over 50 years of clinical experience in pediatric orthodontics and operates a successful private practice in Wayland, MA. He has degrees from Brandeis University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He served as a Teaching Fellow at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and received a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Children’s Hospital. Dr. Carapezza is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and a contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry . His lecture experience includes the Senior Certified Instructor for both the American Orthodontic Society (AOS) and International Association for Orthodontics (IAO). Daniel S. German, DDS Thirty years ago, Dr. Dan German started an orthodontic practice that became one of the largest privately held practices in the country. In 2016, Dr. German used his passion for transforming the delivery of dental care to start Orthobrain ® . Dr. German is well known throughout the dental world for educating professionals on how to correct the entire spectrum of malocclusions, all while rendering exceptional service. Dr. German is devoted to solving dental problems using new and better solutions. He helped develop systems for an easy and precise way to place braces without lab work. Dr. German has traveled the world as a keynote speaker, teaching the clinical aspect of orthodontics and practice development to specialists and general practitioners alike. His published articles include CBCT in Orthodontics, Simplified Teeth Size Calculations, TMD, and Comparing Root Resorption Occurrence between Aligners and Braces. Dr. German is most proud of his role as a dad and grandpa, raising seven children with his amazing wife Teri. Khoi Nguyen, DDS is a general dentist limiting his practice to orthodontics based in Houston, TX. He earned his degree from Baylor College of Dentistry (now Texas A&M Dental School) in 2006. Dr. Khoi has taken orthodontic courses through Rondeau Seminars, USDI, and AGpO. He completed the 12-session course with the Academy of Gp Orthodontics in 2012, the Early Treatment course in 2014, and is a Fellow of the AGpO.
