By Randy K. Newby, DDS I n the first article of this series, the planes and arcs used in the Sassouni Archial Analysis 2 were located and described. The Fig. 1 cephalometric bottom line (Fig. 1) consists of 14 points that aid in the diagnosis both dentally and skeletally and treatment planning of an orthodontic case. In this article, points 1, 2, 14, 5, 6, 12, 11, 9 and 3 will be described in this order. It will be very important that the reader of this article study the figures and the associated text that accompanies each figure to more fully understand each bottom-line point. Point 1. Maxilla Overall Length Point 2. Maxilla Position These two bottom line points are discussed in tandem as my commentary often applies to both. The maxilla overall length may be normal, long, or short. The cribri-form perpendicular 3 and the anterior arc are the landmarks used to deter-mine the maxilla overall length and maxilla position (Figs. 2 and 3). The cephalometric tracing of a patient shown in Fig. 4 shows a perfectly positioned maxilla. ANS is located on the anterior arc and PNS is located on Fig. 1 Fig. 2 16 Spring 2023 JAOS
