AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Coming Together For Education, Networking & Annual Meeting Scott C. Earp, DDS AGpO President Here in North Carolina, spring has certainly sprung! Outdoor temperatures have settled into the 70s and most of the pollen season is over. Truly, it was the season to wear a mask—outside. I trust wher-ever you are, you are enjoying some nice weather and good vibes. Dr. Robert Allen and I have almost completed our first 12-session orthodontic class together here in Raleigh-Durham: what an exciting class! We had participants from all over, even Jamaica. Seven dentists participated, and treated 15 patients with multiple orthodontic needs ranging from traditional mild Class II’s to bicuspid extractions cases and non-growers. What a joy it is to treat patients with multi-ple dentists for a great learning experience. We always look forward to our AGpO Annual Meet-ing. This year, it’s being held in Austin, TX on Septem-ber 23-25th, where we can continue to learn so much from the speakers and each other. This year, we will be located at the Stephen F. Austin Royal Sonesta Hotel located in the heart of downtown within walking distance to fine dining and the entertainment district. Before the meeting, the Academy will be offering an optional hands-on wire-bending session with Dr. Fred Der on Thursday afternoon, September 23. Our Assistants Course will be held in Plano, TX on July 22-24, featuring Dr. Charles Young. Jeffery Gerhardt, DDS will be offering a 2021 Advanced Tip-Edge Course as a live online course that will be avail-able on demand afterward. In addition, we are excited to be adding an online Clear-Aligner Course with Drs. Milton Ntragatakis and Raphael Santore, beginning August 1. Again, many come together online these days from a computer and desktop, but it is always the warm fellowship and camaraderie of in-person meetings and courses that makes us all feel so special! As the warm weather continues to keep us looking forward to outside activities, I trust that each of you will make plans to get away to Austin in September to celebrate a great learning experience with fellow AGpO members. Stay healthy and safe; see you in Austin! Scott C. Earp, DDS Three-Day Dental Assistant Course To Take Place on July 22-24 Dr. Charles Young will be teaching the Academy’s three-day Dental Assistant Course on July 22-24, 2021. The course will be held at the Renaissance Legacy West Hotel in Plano, TX. The hands-on lab portion of this course makes it important to continue to offer it as an in-person course. The Dental Assistant Course is intended for assistants with little orthodontic training as well as a refresher course for more experienced assistants. The course will give the chairside dental assis-tant a better understanding of orthodontics and the Differential using the Tip-Edge System. Dr. Young will cover the Tip-Edge stages of treatment, tracing cephalometric x-rays and model analysis for the diagnosis of arch length discrepancy. The Academy will supply a T.P. Orthodontics supply kit that includes bracket kits, archwires, and a carousel dispenser. A list of additional supplies that will be needed from your office will be sent with course confirmation. Set time aside for this important course; call the Academy at 1-800-634-2027 and speak to Adam or Jennifer for more information or to register. Straight Arch (Tip-Edge) Tech-nique.
