AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Tip-Edge ® Education Across United States and Europe Greetings to all from the warmth of Southeastern Texas. Even with our February temperatures in the 30s and 40s, we pale in comparison to the majority of the country who have experienced bitter cold weather this past winter. If you ever needed a reason to find some sun and warmth, then come to the Spring Refresher being held in Sugarland, Texas on April 17-18, 2015. This meeting is located at the Marriott Hotel in Sugar-land, with enough amenities for even the most discerning patron. For those bringing families, Sugar-land is situated just southwest of Houston and it offers the niceties of a smaller city but it is still near Texas' largest city, where museums, shopping malls and fine dining await. The Spring Refresher’s principal speaker will be Dr. Ron Austin with whom all Tip-Edgers are certainly familiar. Ron is a veritable encyclopedia of the Tip-Edge mechanisms and provides even the most seasoned AGpO member with tips on troubleshooting ortho cases. If you want to wait until later in the year, our Fall Annual Meeting is sizing up to be one with great poten-tial for all attendees to obtain different aspects of orthodontics in an atmosphere of Southern hospitality. The historic Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee is the site of this year's seminar starring four different speakers. The dates of this get-together are September 10-13, 2015. Even with excellent speakers, the lure of Memphis outside of the program will be strong as Memphis is still a hotbed for music and barbeque. Those not attending the seminar have many opportuni-ties to visit a variety of landmarks, Eugene Boone, DDS AGpO President including Graceland, home to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Pres-ley. The River City, as Memphis is known, is also close to Tunica, MS where a collection of casinos await those who are feeling lucky. All this is available to the prudent practitioner and his family, friends and anyone else who may be looking forward to a great outing. In other news that may be of interest to our constituents, the European Begg Society of Orthodon-tics is having their annual meeting in the Netherlands. The Begg Technique is comparable to our own Tip-Edge, according to our past president, Dr. Kyle McCrea. Dr. McCrea is heading a group who is looking to inter-act with our European cousins. Please contact Kyle for further information through our AGpO bulletin board, now up and running. I'm truly excited with the meetings planned for this year and hope that all our members will take advantage of at least one of these continuing education opportu-nities. Our program committee, as well as our AGpO staff, have worked diligently to provide educational programs in accessible areas with a nod to cost as well as comfortable surroundings. By utilizing the benefits provided by our organization, we can feel confident that we have a pipeline for answers to possible ques-tions or problems that can arise during tooth move-ment. Tip-Edge ® Refresher Taught by Expert; Take Practice To Next Level This year’s Spring Refresher will take place at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square in Texas on April 17-18. This will be two days of intense learn-ing with Dr. Ron Austin. He has completed over 3,000 Tip-Edge cases, and Dr. Austin’s vast experience and wealth of practical knowledge will help attendees to take their Tip-Edge orthodontic practice to the next level. Dr, Austin will teach you how to treat the 50% of your patients who do not follow the Tip -Edge guide. Topics that will be covered will include diagnosis with a special lecture on understanding subdivision cases and where to extract. Stages One through Three with special emphasis on the Austin Protraction Technique, knowing when and how to protract molars and rectangular versus round wires, will be taught.
