After graduation, he served as a dentist in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox Kentucky for three years. At the conclusion of his service he returned to the UT Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program in Memphis to earn his Master of Pediatric Dentistry degree. In 1962 Dr. Simmons and his family moved to Jackson Mississippi where he opened up his current practice of Pediatric Dentistry. In 1970 he was awarded the first pediatric dentistry speciality license in Mississippi with the state recognition of different Dental specialities. He is a past President of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a Congressional liaison since 1997.
