AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Don't Miss The Chance To Exchange Pearls with Peers. Samuel L. Gutovitz, DDS AGpO President Wow, it's hard to believe our annual meeting in Houston is already here. I know a great time will be had by all who are attending. I am looking forward to meeting and speaking with every one of you. Thanks again to our Executive Director Adam Griswald and his staff in Dallas for all their hard work that has culmi-nated in bringing us this successful meeting. The annual meetings are always so motivating and the boost to our orthodontic knowledge once we get back from the meeting and implement all the “pearls” we’ve accumulated over the course of this meeting will be fantastic. The pediatric and early treatment agenda is such an important part of orthodontic treatment and I know we will be showered with so many great pearls over the two days of lecture. The restaurants chosen for this meeting are an outstanding example of the great cuisine offered in Houston. Each one will be both excellent and a lot of fun and the optional dinners they provide will be the best yet. Thank you to all sixteen exhibitors who have added immensely to the success of this great meeting. An exhibit hall packed with doctors is always a good sign of a successful meet-ing and I expect us to be shoulder to shoulder. The first Charles D. Yates free lecture series featuring Dr. Joseph O'Neil on Sunday will be a big hit. It will be great to watch as this series continues to grow each year. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the Spring 2013 refresher course in Plano, TX from April 17-21 at the Legacy Marriott. This is a great area to have a meeting. There is so much to do without even having to get into a car! The 2013 joint annual meet-ing will be in Chicago, IL on August 15-18 at the historic Intercontinental Hotel on Michigan Avenue. Make plans to return to “Sweet Home Chicago”. Also, pay attention for upcoming dates for an advanced Tip Edge course with Dr. Ron Austin. In addition, I wanted to thank Dr. Greg Cannizzo for all of his hard work with this Journal. It is an outstanding publication and one that we all enjoy reading and look forward to receiving! I’ve enjoyed leading one of the greatest orthodontic organizations around and being your Pres-ident this past year. I’m hoping to see you all this Spring in Texas! Dental Assistants Complete Hands-On Course The Academy held its 2012 Assistant Course with instructor Dr. Charles Young at the Marriott Legacy Towne Center in Plano TX on July 26–29. Twenty–eight assistants and two doctors attended this intensive four-day course which included orthodon-tic staff training with an optional half-day session covering cephalo-metric tracing and model analysis for the orthodontic assistant. Over the past five years, 100 assistants have attended this popu-lar summer AGpO course. Watch for dates for the next 2013 course to help make your assistant a vital active part of the orthodontics that you offer to your patients! www.orthodontics.com September/October 2012 43
