ORTHO INDUSTRY NEWS Parkell Introduces Unique Curing Light Parkell, Inc. is pleased to introduce the Aurora™ S3 curing light. It features an ergonomically slim design and easy-access head to reach anywhere, even posterior teeth of children and petite patients. Its compact size and extended life Lithium-ion battery (120 curing cycles per charge) make it portable, too. The Aurora S3’s speed of cure is enhanced by its three LED lights, which are located in the head along with a parabolic reflector to minimize light dispersion. The result is a constant level of irradiance across an 11mm curing area and a wavelength range of 420-480nm, giving it the capability to capture a wider area for curing. The Aurora S3 features superior convenience with simple one-button control and three pre-programmed curing modes of three-second curing power at 1000mW/cm2 for gelling restorative materi-als, 10-second turbo power at 1300mW/cm2 for high-speed curing and 20-second regular power at 1000mW/cm2 for conventional curing operations. Washington Symposium Discuss To Dental Waste A symposium entitled, “Reducing Mercury Discharges from Dental Offices & Proper Waste Management of Other Hazardous Materials Generated in the Dental Office”, will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Washington DC. The goal of this program is to serve as a major exchange of ideas regarding the future of dental care waste management. Dental Recycling North America, Inc., along with Kerr Corporation and WM Healthcare Solutions, Inc., is sponsoring the symposium. This program, along with an explanation of its recy-cling results, will be discussed at this conference. Other topics to be discussed include: 1) The Growing Focus on the Healthcare Industry for Proper Waste Management”, 2) “How Being Green Can Enhance the Financial Status of the Dental Practice”, 3) “Understanding the State Regulatory Process”, and 4) “The US EPA’s Environmental Testing Verification Program-for Amalgam Separators”. A light-bodied, low-durometer vinyl polysiloxane material, Lock-Free VPS is dispensed directly onto undercuts or under bars/pontics. Once fully set, a traditional VPS material is applied around the rest of the area, cured and then removed. LockFree VPS flexes past undercuts and splits around bars for easy removal. When the entire impression is completely removed, LockFree VPS will return to its original shape to provide precise details of the areas to which it was applied. LockFree VPS features a 35-second working time, 90-second intraoral set time and no demarca-tion when blending together with traditional VPS material. It handles beautifully and is applica-ble to a vast array of everyday impression-making situations. To order LockFree VPS, or for more information on this exciting new material and its risk-free trial, please contact Parkell, Inc. at (800) 243-7446.
