AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS AOS Upcoming Ortho Courses Dr. Baker’s iOrtho Comprehen-sive Interception Orthodontics and Craniofacial Orthopedics begins January 18 & 19, 2013 on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Using Dr. Baker’s “Phase I and Done” philosophy, this four-session course on treatment of the primary and transitional dentitions, uses and expands on familiar diagnos-tics and treatment modalities to help you transform smiles and lives of younger patients. (76 CE hours) February 1 & 2 will be the next Early Treatment for the Pediatric and General Dentist weekend class at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel and Spa in Orlando, FL. During these intensive two days, Dr. Ed Gonzalez will teach you how to identify when Phase I treatment must be started or referred and give you the skills to provide that Phase I treat-ment. (14 CE hours) February 1 & 2 will also be the kick-off weekend for Dr. Larry White and Dr. Bill Wyatt’s four-session Orthodontics in Today’s Dental Practice in Dallas. In this compre-hensive course, learn the dynamics of Three Dimensional Diagnosis, the fundamentals of Biomechanics, and the techniques of individual treatment plans. Develop the skills to treat Class II and Class III malocclusions with confidence. (64 CE hours) February 1 & 2 is a BUSY weekend! Susan Coffey, RDA, will lead the first half of her Dallas 1 Basic Ortho Assistant course, finishing March 1 & 2. Your staff will learn everything from taking complete orthodontic records to correct placement of brackets and wires in this two-session course, also being taught in Houston Feb. 8 -9 and March 15 -16. (32 CE hours) Comprehensive Orthodontic Education , taught by Dr. Joe Schmidbauer and assisted by Dr. Jordan Balvich, will begin March 8 -10 in Atlanta. This five-session course covers case election, proper diagnosis, orthodontic records, non-extraction treatment & case finishing and provides a practical, predictable system of mechanics to treat 80% of malocclusions that are presented to your practice. (100 CE hours) Dr. David Jackson will begin his six-session 1B Basic/Intermediate Orthodontics course in Dallas the weekend of March 21 -23. This is an in-office, hands-on instructional during which attendees will work on live patients each Saturday of the three-day sessions. This course has very limited seating and fills up fast! (150 CE hours) Learn early treatment techniques in a private office! Dr. Leonard Cara-pezza’s “Beginning” level of his Early Treatment of Malocclusion course starts March 21 -23 in Wayland, MA. (That’s Boston, folks!) The “Advanced” starts the following weekend. Each course is divided into a series of four sessions individually arranged to give an in-depth study of the Straight Wire system using state-of-the-art audio/visual procedures and personal-ized hands-on training. Begin treating patients after the second session! (96 CE hours) April 5th and 6th will be the dates for our annual Orthodontic Review Course in Dallas, presented by the Academy of Diplomates! This two-day didactic course, taught by our team of instructors and examiners, is for AOS members striving to reach Board Eligible and/or Diplomate status. (14 CE hours) April 12 -14 will be the beginning of Dr. Jackson’s Level 2 Intermedi-ate/Advanced course in Dallas. This is a four-session course designed for the practitioner who has completed a basic course and/or for one who would like updates on the latest orthodontic concepts and techniques. Learn how to bend and torque arch wire, when to distalize, reposition, or extract, and how to treat Class III patients.
