AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Gathering Pearls: Educational Lineup Was Priceless Investment The AGpO’s 23rd annual meeting was held in Atlanta, GA this fall. It was four days of beautiful weather, wonderful speakers and outstanding cama-raderie. It was great to see so many of our members at this year’s annual gathering. Dr. Chris Kesling from T.P. Orthodontics lectured for a full day on the Tip-Edge System. The number of “pearls” and cases presented to our group was priceless. Dr. Brian Allman lectured the second day on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and its importance to our patients and practices. With more than 20 million Americans effected by OSA and its links to hypertension, heart attack, stroke, depression, muscle pain, excessive day time sleepiness and other destructive problems, this day of learning was vital to our practices and lives. At Saturday’s General Assembly Meeting Executive Director Emeritus, Cynthia Bordelon, namesake and head of the Academy’s Cynthia Bordelon Scholarship program announced that two additional scholarships had been awarded for patients in need of financial assistance for their orthodontic treatment. It was great seeing and talking with so many of you as I finished up my year as your AGpO president. Dr. Sam Gutovitz will now take over as President and will welcome you to next year’s Spring Refresher in Jacobson, DDS Puerto Rico as part of a joint meet-Tom AGpO President ing with the IAO and the 2012 Annual Meeting in Houston, TX. Have a great Holiday and start to the New Year. -Tom Jacobsen, DDS AGpO Executive Emeritus Cynthia Bordelon and AGpO Executive Director Adam Griswald greet members at the annual meeting’s vendor exposition.
