ORTHO BITES “I explained to the parents that we needed to begin Phase I immediately to catch the remainder of craniofacial growth (age 5 – 12) and see if I could advance the upper anterior teeth and retract the lower anterior teeth.” Fig. 6 Fig. 7 Fig. 8 Class III tendency. I explained to the parents that we needed to begin Phase I immediately to catch the remainder of craniofacial growth (age 5 – 12) and see if I could advance the upper anterior teeth and retract the lower anterior teeth. The lower anterior teeth had spacing due to the tongue posture. I also advised the parents that their son may require a habit/tongue trainer. I explained to them some tongue posture training exercises to perform on their son. Due to some scheduling conflicts, treatment was delayed until mid September 2008. For the next year, I employed prefabricate utility arch wires (Ortho Orga-nizers), advancing the upper wire, moving the upper anterior teeth forward (Figures 6-9). In October 2009, I fabricated an .018 x .025 SS utility arch wire and made the distal legs short of touching the lower buccal tubes; and metal ligated the lower arch wire to the buccal tubes to retract the lower incisors. 30 November/December 2010 JAOS Fig. 9
