Dr. Robert Gerety Scholarship Recipient Recognized On March 31, 2010, at a luncheon in Oklahoma City, AOS Executive Direc- tor Thomas Chapman had the privilege of awarding the 2010 Robert G. Gerety Scholarship for Academic Excellence to Blaire A. Bowers of the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Ms. Bowers obtained her BS from the University of Oklahoma in 2006 with a 3.98 GPA and she is now in her final year of dental school. In addi- tion to working part-time in a dental practice since 2002, this dedicated and busy young woman has been a teaching assistant for second-year dental students in orthodontics since August of 2009 and tutored dental hygiene students in oral pathology in 2008. Currently vice-president of her class, Ms. Bowers also served as Community Service Chair for the American Student Dental Association (ASDA), secretary of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Student Association, and has been a volunteer for Kids Day, which provides free dental services to under- privileged children. Awarded annually since 2000 by the AOS Foundation, the Dr. Robert G. Gerety Scholarship is proud to recognize outstanding academic achievement with an emphasis on performance in orthodontic course work.
