ORTHO INDUSTRY NEWS Greaseless, Water-Soluble Release Agent for Dental Applications Pulpdent Corporation has introduced WINKTM, a greaseless, water-soluble lubricant and release agent for all dental applications. WINKTM replaces petroleum jelly and other greasy, lumpy and hard-to-remove materials. It goes on smoothly and evenly, is easily thinned with compressed air, and washes off quickly with water. WINKTM has a wide range of uses and applications. It provides easy release of impressions and prevents the distortion caused by torque and stresses during removal from the mouth, even with polyether impres- sion materials. For provisional restorations, WINKTM can be placed on buildups, teeth and preps to provide fast and easy removal from the mouth after curing. WINKTM can also be placed on the outside surface of restorations for effortless removal of excess set cement. Dental professionals can use WINKTM when making final impres- sions for removable partial dentures and can place it on the buccal surfaces of dentures during reline procedures. WINKTM can also be used on rubber dams to facilitate placement without tearing, on face and tissue for easy removal of excess set cement and impression material, and on tight fitting implant abutments for easy removal during the try-in phase. Pulpdent manufactures high- quality products for the dental profes- sion, including adhesives, compos- ites, sealants, cements, etching gels, calcium hydroxide products, endodontic specialties and bonding accessories. Ultradent Collects Donations for Haiti Relief In response to the evolving humanitarian crisis that resulted from the recent earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, Ultradent launched a voluntary program to provide employees with the option of donating funds to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief. Ultradent will match employee donations with a dollar- for-dollar contribution. “What’s happened in Haiti is tragic and deserves the attention of anyone in a position to provide support”, said Dr. Dan Fischer, President/CEO of Ultra- 8 March/April 2010 JAOS dent Products. “Ultradent employees have always been generous in helping those in need. Because we had such an overwhelming response from management and their employ- ees, we set up a fund to allow voluntary pre-tax contributions”. Since the program’s launch, Ultradent employees have gener- ously donated thousands of dollars to help the American Red Cross and its partners assist those affected by this disaster. FSQ Cutters Are Highly Efficient Lab Instruments KOMET USA’s FSQ Cutters are popular rotary instruments designed especially for laboratory technicians to work on soft relines, hard or elastic acrylics and precious metals. These fine tung- sten carbide cutters are designed with a highly efficient toothing and a special cross-cut, dividing the instrument’s blades into smaller, and therefore more aggres- sive, cutting segments. It’s recommended to apply low contact pressure for efficient cutting. FSQ cutters easily over- come penetration resistance when cutting both elastic and tough materials. Minimal heat is produced, reducing the potential smearing of material. FSQ cutters are available in single packs and various shapes including: grenade, round ended cylinder, long narrow taper, round ended taper, blunt taper, egg, modified chamfer, small round ended taper and pear.
