AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS AOS Upcoming Ortho Courses The beautiful Buena Vista Palace Hotel in Orlando will once again be the site of Dr. Ed Gonzalez’s Early Treatment for the Pediatric and General Dentist course August 3-4. This weekend course is designed to give the pediatric dentist first-hand knowledge of early treatment “Stop Point” orthodontics. No prior orthodontic knowledge is required. (14 CE hours) Susan Coffey, RDA, will lead her Empowered Advanced course for assistants August 10-11 and September 7-8 in Dallas. These weekends coincide with the third and fourth sessions of Dr. David Jackson’s Next Steps course. In these two sessions, learn everything from basic orthodontic terminology to the concept of full intercuspation of premolars, cross arch elastics, and preparing a simple sectional arch wire. (16 CE hours each) More opportunities for assis-tants! Robin Schmidbauer will teach her Basic Straight Wire for Assistants class September 14-16 in conjunction with session #4 of Dr. Joe Schmidbauer’s Comprehensive Orthodontic Education class in Atlanta. Robin’s Advanced Straight Wire class will be November 9-11. The Basic begins with proper record-keeping, and the Advanced finishes with archwire placement. (16 CE hours each) Dr. Jackson’s new “1a Basic Orthodontics” course (formerly “Missing Piece” ) starts September 14-16 in Dallas and the following weekend in Houston. This four-session course for general and pediatric dentists focuses on learning a proven system for diagnosing and treating over 70% of orthodontic cases that walk through your door! Subsequent sessions are in November 2012, February and March 2013. (80 CE hours total) Dr. Chris Baker’s Orthodon-tics and Craniofacial Ortho-pedics Comprehensive Course I begins September 14-15 in Baltimore and the follow-ing weekend in Phoenix. This is a four-session course designed to provide attendees with a solid and confident knowledge of orthodontics through under-standing biologic basis of tooth movement, growth, functional appliances, mechanical princi-ples, diagnosis, and efficient clinical application. (80 CE hours total) Dr. Baker will also hold her iOrtho Interception Orthodontics weekend class in San Antonio November 9-10. This lecture and participation class uses iPad technology in diagnos-ing child patients and utilizing resources for cephalometric trac-ing and treatment planning. Each participant receives an iPad!
