Step-By-Step Placement of the Composite and Chain ᕥ Place the loaded form and with chain on ᕡ Expose the target tooth. the conditioned exposed tooth surface and gently press into place to conform to anatomy of tooth surface. ᕢ Prophy the enamel surface with plain pumice, rinse and dry. Etch the enamel with 37% phosphoric acid for 30 seconds. Rinse and dry. ᕦ Light cure through the form for 20 seconds with a dental curing light. If the form cannot be placed due to obstruction of the handle, a hemostat can be used to hold the form. ᕣ Apply 1 coat of Assure Bonding Resin and stroke over 2-3 times. Lightly dry with air. ᕧ Lift away form. Light cure composite for additional 20 seconds. Chain will easily tear away from form. ᕤ Place the desired size of extrusion form with chain into the white handle. With the Flow Tain composite syringe, fill the form to the brim with paste, covering the chain. Do not overfill. ᕨ Surgically close the site, as necessary attaching the gold chain to the appropriate tooth or archwire. www.orthodontics.com July/August 2012 67
