AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS New AGpO Benefits & Exciting 2012 Events! I am very proud and honored to be elected and serve another term as the Academy's President and I look forward to all the upcoming events AGpO has planned for this year. Reflecting back, I remember my first annual meet-ing years ago with IAO, AOS, and the Academy of Gp Orthodontics. I had always heard about the Academy’s founder Dr. Charlie Yates and how great of an instruc-tor he was, but unfortunately, he passed away prior to that meeting in Dallas. I remember hearing that Cynthia Bordelon (our previous Executive Director) had worked for Dr. Charlie Yates and was now the Director for the Academy of Gp Orthodontics. At that meeting, I remember Cynthia giving me a very warm welcome. She worked so hard to do everything in her power to make our meeting successful. We are now extremely lucky to have Adam Griswold as our Execu-tive Director. He works hard to meet our organiza-tion’s challenges with unbelievable enthusiasm and has an amazing positive attitude. Adam is both up-to-date and innovative. Yes, Dr. Charles Yates would be proud of us today. We provide quality "Tip Edge" Orthodontics to our patients. In addition, Dr. Yates would also be very proud of how we have grown through our courses and this Journal. I would like to thank and congratulate Dr. Greg Cannizzo as the Journal’s editor. He started with the Journal in its beginning 11 years ago. He spent five years as co-editor, and will now begin his sixth year as the JAOS editor. His talent shines through with his editor’s welcome column with each publication. Here, he often touts both the AOS and the AGpO and his dedication to their members, while behind the scenes, he edits some 50 pages of text for each of the six publi-cations a year. He tirelessly campaigns behind the scene for a quality publication asking instructors and members to contribute articles that he is willing to format and even rewrite if needed in order to provide members with relevant, scientific-based journalism. So, enjoy this Journal and the other membership benefits for this year. Some of the new benefits to membership and exciting events for 2012 include: Samuel L. Gutovitz, DDS AGpO President 1.
