ORTHO BITES Fig. 9 Tempra or Epic bands (Ortho Organizers), and placed an.012 Nitinol Arch wire as I always do to introduce the patient to ortho, stir up the periodontal ligaments, and not hurt the patient (Fig. 2). Two weeks later, I banded the upper second molars, placed solo tubes (Ortho Organizers) on the lowers, and placed a .014 nitinol arch wire (Fig. 3). In October 2006, I placed the Turbo arch wires employing the stops to create a larger perimeter than the existing arches (Figure 4). I also placed power chain on the lower arch from LL6 to LL2 and from LR6 to LR1 to direct the space opening to the blocked out LL1. Figs. 5 – 7 show the incredible lower arch transformation. This occurred during the next nine months. Each month, I would uncrimp the stops, move them slightly distal on the arch wire to create more arch length, and crimp them again. I also used dental floss to tie the wire to the blocked out LL1 to bring it into the arch as the arch developed and expanded. “...these figures demonstrate placing labial root torque in the LL1 to bring the root labial. This is accomplished in .016 x .022 SS, with the root torquing plier and key (Ortho Organizers).” Fig. 10 14 January/February 2011 JAOS
