AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS Advance Your Practice with AOS During our recent AOS Annual Meeting in San Diego, it was an honor to be inducted in the presence of my colleagues as the newly installed president of this great Society. I have learned from the leaders that have gone before me and gained much more than clin-ical mechanics from the teachers with whom I’ve stud-ied. I believe in the great value that the AOS brings to the dental community and will do all I can to move us forward in quality education and mentoring. From my youth, I wanted to be a dentist practicing in my hometown of Sterling, Colorado. Small rural towns certainly come with challenges but come with even greater rewards. Most importantly as AOS presi-dent, it connects me with so many of our members who bring their diverse services to a rural population that may not have specialist access. Having always wanted to practice orthodontics, I was pushed quickly to gain the necessary knowledge from day one. Every dentist in my small town of Sterling was practicing orthodontics. I enrolled in Bob AOS President Gerety’s course and have contin-ued to attend orthodontic programs for over 20 years. Many of my patient’s are children so the AOS’ focus on early treatment has been a blessing for the community and myself. As you advance in your orthodontic practice, I encourage you to document every case, maintain your membership and work through our tier advancement. I also encourage you to attend our Annual Meetings: great speakers and great locations are only exceeded by the special cama-raderie of these meetings. Start planning now for our next meeting in Washington DC on September 19-22, 2019. Finally, I solicit your comments and sugges-tions and encourage you to communicate with me at kasuterdds@gmail.com.
