AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS A Privilege To Serve Fall is fast approaching, and with it this year’s AGpO Annual Meeting. With the start of the meeting, my term as president of the AGpO will wind down and finish. It certainly has been a privilege to serve this organization, but I would be less than truthful if I didn't point out that my service has been mainly cere-monial. The real leaders of our group are those individ-uals who spend countless weekends teaching the nuances of the Tip-Edge system of orthodontics. With-out their desire to extend their knowledge to dentists who wish to incorporate orthodontics into general practices, the Tip-Edge method of moving teeth would soon be lost. Given the fact that our structure provides for help to those committed to being members of the AGpO, I feel that we have a strong basis with which to attract dentists who wish to increase their repertoire of services offered to their patients. As with any structured body of individuals, a strong board of directors must be in place in order to provide guidance for said group. We are truly blessed to have that arrangement in our organization. These folks, along with our executive director and his staff, meet at least once a year, usually at our annual meeting. Once assembled, the board discusses, plans and implements future continuing education courses as well shaping the guidelines by which our membership abides. I strongly urge, if asked to serve as an officer or board member, that every consideration be made to accept the invitation. Our very Eugene Boone, DDS existence as a viable orthodontic AGpO President group is dependent on people will-ing to step up to this challenge. In closing, I am pleased to know that the incoming president of the AGpO, Dr. Steven Bradley, is a great example of someone willing to give of himself for the betterment of our group. His insight for the future of our group has been invaluable to the shaping of policy as well as future CE courses. Please let him know that his time is being well spent by continuing to support the AGpO through your yearly membership commit-ment and your faithful attendance of local study clubs as well as annual meetings. Also, let Dr. Greg Cannizzo know what an outstanding job he has done promoting our people as the editor of the JAOS magazine. Once again, I have been privileged to act as president for 2014-15, and I look forward to assisting this organiza-tion in upcoming endeavors.
