Fernandez, DDS, MS, attended the Ohio State Univer-sity earning a B.S. Degree with a double major in Dental Hygiene and Psychology. Upon acceptance into the OSU College of Dentistry, she chose to utilize her dental hygiene degree for a year. She then graduated in 1991 from the OSU College of Dentistry, receiving a Special Certificate for her work in the area of pediatric dentistry. She earned her M.S. degree in Pediatric Dentistry from the Ohio State University/Columbus Chil-dren’s Hospital residency program in 1993. After graduation she earned the honor of becoming a Diplomate in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Fernandez has had extensive training in orthodontics and has been providing braces to her patients for more than a decade. As of April 2017 she has successfully completed the third tier of three to earn the status of Diplomate in Orthodontics. She now is a Diplomate in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Orthodontic Society. Randy K. Newby, DDS, is a Diplomate of the AOS and has prac-ticed orthodontics for 30 years and has completed over 2,000 cases. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1976, and the Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1980. He has completed the Master Program in implant dentistry at the GIDE Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Newby practices multidisciplinary dentistry in Mount Hope, KS, a small community outside of Wichita with his associate Katie L. Neidig, DDS, an AOS member. Ralph Nicassio, DDS, graduated from UCLA in 1985. Dr. Nicassio has maintained a private practice in Norwalk, CA for over 25 years. Dr. Nicassio is a member of AOS, he has taught 750 days of continuing education in 19 different countries internationally and throughout United States and Canada. For over 20 years he was the lead tenured instructor for Progressive Orthodontics. He has been a consultant for fellow general dentists all over the world and has diagnosed over 40,000 comprehensive orthodontic cases. For the past 3 years Dr. Nicassio has been an instruc-tor for Henry Schein Orthodontics teaching a comprehensive and advanced orthodon-tic course. His focus is on practical solutions emphasizing diagnosis of orthodontic and prosthodontic cases. Maria Zavala, RDA, BA, has earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University, Long Beach. Maria graduated from the Dental Assistant Program at Cerritos College in 1991 and lives in Lakewood, California. With over 20 years of experience in the dental field Maria currently works in a general dental practice and orthodontics. Maria has over 3 years of teaching experience in orthodontics program for dental assistants and currently works with general doctors doing in office consultations.
