Bergersen, DDS, MSD received his D.D.S. and M.S.D. degrees from Northwestern University and taught for 25 years in the graduate orthodontic department as an assistant professor. His specialties are growth and development, cephalometrics and interceptive orthodontics. He designed, advised and supervised research projects at Northwestern University, Tufts University, University of San Paulo, Bauru, Brazil and Turku University in Finland. He has guest lectured at over 35 dental schools, published over 450 articles in various journals and has given 450 seminars worldwide. Dr. Bergersen had a practice limited to orthodontics for 30 years in Winnetka, Illinois and is a retired member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Angle Society. Dr. Bergersen is the inventor of the appliances mentioned in this article and is Chairman of the Board of Ortho-Tain, Inc. but has no financial interest in the company and receives no monetary compensation. Josh Brower DDS, MIAMDI, FAASDI, is a general practitioner who practices using both orthodontics and dental implants of all sizes. He is Master of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants (IAMDI), a Founder/Fellow of the American Academy of Small Diameter Implants (AASDI) and founding member. He does not practice exclusively with small diameter implants. Elsa Alfonzo-Echeverri, DDS, FAAPD, is the Vice President of Echeverri Dental Center in Houston, TX. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is an international speaker having made presentations in Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Spain and the USA. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Assn of Pediatric Dentistry and the AOS. Juan Carlos Echeverri, DDS, FAOS, After earning his DDS in his native country of Colombia, Dr. Echeverri moved to the US to pursue graduate studies. He received his Certificate of Maxillofacial Prosthetic Dentistry from LSU School of Dentistry in 1989 and his DDS from UT-Houston in 1992. Fluent in Spanish and English, he has lectured in Colombia, Venezuela, and Spain, in addition to the US and has published articles in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Journal of the American Orthodontic Society. His private practice in Houston focuses on a comprehensive approach to the treatment of patients, including restorative, prosthetic, and implant dentistry, as well as minor oral surgery and orthodontics. Dr. Echeverri is a Diplomate of the AOS and currently serves as AOS President. Jones, DDS, FAGD, FADI, DAAPM , as a practicing dentist of 55 years, has been providing orthodontics for 50 years. He was one of the first instructors with the U.S. Dental Institute and lectured with them for 14 years. In addition, he has given several presentations to medical anesthesiologists and pain specialist organizations on topics of facial pain and TMJ differential diagnosis. His intimate association with the area of orthodontics has given him the insight to develop several diagnostic templates used to measure facial balance, and are now being used around the globe. When his practice became involved in the area of temporomandibular joint dysfunction, Dr. Jones incorporated linear tomography and sectography as an adjunct to his TMJ treatment. The ability to visualize the bony orthopedic changes that impact appliance and growth changes has served to create a new system of orthodontic treatment planning. Randy K. Newby, DDS, is a Diplomate of the AOS and has practiced orthodontics for 30 years and has completed over 2,000 cases. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1976, and the Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1980. He has completed the Master Program in implant dentistry at the GIDE Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Newby practices multidisciplinary dentistry in Mount Hope, KS, a small community outside of Wichita with his associate Katie L. Neidig, DDS, an AOS member. Brooke Stevens, is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She graduated with a BS in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Her emphasis has been research within the dental field and connecting dental issues with sleep and breathing concerns in children. Brooke has been working with the Healthy Start Project evaluating Sleep Disordered Breathing in over 500 children across the country. Brooke plans on continuing her work in research and looks to attend Dental School in 2017. Brooke's other interests include medical access in 3rd world countries. Brooke has traveled and provided medical services in South America and Asia. She participated in the AMSA (American Medical Student Association) organization working towards medical activism and serving the health needs of different communities.
