AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS AOS Tailors Education for You It IS significant that the AOS is entering its 38th year of providing quality courses to the dental community and that over 10,000 dental profession-als have come through the doors to an AOS course. This means we have remained relevant and current with our teaching and service to our community. However, to the individual member, these are noth-ing more than past statistics. What matters to each member is TODAY. What is the AOS going to do for me NOW if I register for a course or attend our Annual Meeting, or even renew my membership? As your AOS president, I want to convince you that the AOS will provide you with something that you cannot do on your own. We can hand you the keys to a better practice. Every one of our instructors will teach you the latest in orthodontic skills and then share how to make it profitable. This cannot be replicated anywhere else in the dental community. You must learn mechanics AND practice manage-ment from someone who has walked the path. Our instructors, our Diplomates, and all our long-time members will share knowledge and experiences in an environment of peer-to-peer mentoring. Secondly, the AOS will connect YOU to great ideas and great people. The indi-Michael J. Newman, DDS AOS President viduals that sit next to you in our courses will become friends and may also become mentors. There is not a better place for YOU to learn than in one of our courses, both from the instructors and your colleagues. When making your educational plans for 2014, put an AOS course(s) on your calendar, and include the Academy of Diplomates Mid-Winter Meeting, Feb 21-22 in Dallas, as well as the AOS Annual Meet-ing in those plans. This year, the Annual Meeting will be in Denver, Colorado, from August 7-10 in the gorgeous Omni Interlocken Resort. Bring the family to a great place for hiking, biking, golf, or just relax-ing. Think of yourself first…we do! Michael J. Newman, DDS www.orthodontics.com Winter 2014 45
