AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS Gearing Up for Our Fall Meeting The heat of summer is upon us! We here at the AOS hope you’re all having a great summer and have been able to get away from the office and spend some quality time with your loved ones. It has been a bittersweet summer for my family, as this will be our last summer with high schoolers. It’s hard to believe our twins will be seniors this year. Enjoy the time—it truly goes by quickly. Speaking of time going quickly, we are rapidly approaching our Fall Annual Meeting. It is going to be filled with great courses and information for not only doctors, but also team members. There are tracks specifically designed for assistants and front-office person-nel. It is truly a one-stop meeting that provides clinic-ready continu-ing education for the entire office. There are two new courses coming up in October that I would highly recommend every-one investigate. First, Dr. Brad Williams will be presenting an “Introduction to TADs” course. TADs can be used for so many different functions in orthodon-tics, ranging from improving anchorage when moving an impacted canine to MARPEs and even helping reduce a patient’s gummy smile. With all his experi-ence and knowledge, who better to teach this class than Dr. Williams. The second offering is with Dr. Matt Standridge, who will be leading a class AOS President on “Self-Liga-tion and Variable Force Systems.” I personally have been using a passive self-ligation system for many years and have seen it provide tremendous results. The system has its quirks, however. Dr. Standridge’s class will help you navigate the intricacies of self-ligation from the very beginning and shorten your learning curve. One last plug: Be sure to listen to our Executive Director, Nate Porter, at the Annual Meeting as he discusses Orthii. It is a simple alternative to Dolphin and free to AOS members. The software has AI capabilities that can generate a cephalometric analysis and aid in case management for the general and pediatric dentist. Porter will be introducing the software and providing an overview, so be sure to make a point of attending that session. I can say for myself and the AOS Board that we hope to see all of you in Dallas in September. If you haven’t registered yet for the Fall Meeting, please do so to ensure you have a seat and a hotel room. The Drey Hotel and surrounding area will provide a welcome getaway for doctors, team members, and families. Looking forward to seeing many “old” and new faces! Gregory T.
