AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Friendships, Fellowship & Financial Gain Are Some of the Reasons To Participate This year marks my 10th year of membership with the Academy of Gp Orthodontics. As the 2017 presi-dent of the AGpO, I wanted to share with you what the Academy means to me personally and why it is benefi-cial to continue your membership and participate as often as you can. Let’s begin with what I believe is the Academy’s best feature: the Academy is fun!! It is great getting together once or twice a year with friends that I have met through this great organization over the years. We spend time discussing treatment along with enjoying the friendships fostered by long term membership and common interests. The Academy is a great source of continuing education. Every year at the annual meet-ing, I have the opportunity to get plenty of continuing education in the field where my greatest interest lies…..orthodontics. Every location that the AGpO has researched and chosen for a meeting has been an interesting, entertain-ing and fun site and sometimes I receive a mini-vacation along with outstanding education. The orthodontic knowledge I have acquired through the Academy has been a financial game changer in my office as well --orthodontics now makes up 75% of my office revenue. All in all, the effect the Academy has had on my life over the last 10 years has been nothing short of remarkable, and I know it can be the same for you. Remember the more you put into it, the more you get out of it, so I encourage you to get AGpO President involved today. There are many upcoming lectures and courses being sponsored by the AGpO and, this year, there are even more CE opportu-nities available to you. Learn interceptive orthodontics with Dr. Keith Wilk-erson as he presents AGpO’s Early Treatment course in Austin, Texas starting on June 16-17. Keith will teach you how to correct orthodontic issues before they become larger problems that may threaten your patient’s dental and overall health. An Advanced Orthodontic Course in downtown Chicago with Dr. Jefferey Gerhardt D.D.S. on June 30 will help answer a lot of questions that pop up as you are starting or continuing your orthodontic journey. Have Dr. Charles Young train your assistants on how to help you with your orthodontic cases at the Assis-tant’s Course in Plano, Texas on July 20-23. And later this year, come learn and have some “fun in the sun” at our Annual Meeting in Galveston, Texas at the San Luis Resort on October 6 -7, 2017. This year’s speakers include Dr. Chris Kesling and Dr. Ron Austin. There will also be a day of troubleshooting lectures with AGpO instructors using the theme “What To Do When”. We'll see you in Galveston soon!
