At 17 months into treatment, .019x.025 braided archwire was placed and the patient returned in 8 weeks to allow the teeth to settle. The braided archwire was then cut to create sectional wires in the anterior and the patient was instructed in wearing posterior closing elastics. After 6 weeks of elastic wear the bands and brackets were removed and a lingual bonded retainer was placed on both arches.(Figs. 8A-E) Oral hygiene instructions were reinforced to help alleviate the hyperplastic papillae on the anterior teeth. Advised patient we could use our laser to treat them if they didn’t improve. Chlorhexi-dine was given to aid in healing. At the four week follow up the tissue had returned to normal.
