It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle…when the sun comes up, you’d better be running”. In order to stay competitive so that you can out run that “lion” you need to keep your practice and skills in shape. With your practice orthodontic skills, staying fit involves making sure you keep up-to-date on the newest techniques and products available to you. Both the AOS and AGpO as well as this Journal are here to help keep you at the front of the pack of gazelles, outrunning all the lions. Make it a point to check out the many continuing educational oppor-tunities that are available through-out the year to help you fine tune or expand your orthodontic knowledge and treatment. The many courses of Dr. David Jackson and Dr. Chris Baker as well as the courses of Dr. Joe Schmidbauer and Dr. Jordan Balvich will bring you to the next level. The early treatment classes of Dr. Len Carapezza and Dr. Ed Gonzales can expand your orthodontic treatment and understanding of growth and development. The Mini-Residency conducted by Dr. Ron Austin and the Comprehensive Class of Dr. Larry White and Dr. Bill Wyatt will refine and sharpen your orthodontic skills. Keeping all the gazelles in your office in top shape can be addressed with the Assistant courses put on each year by AOS’s Robin Schmidbauer, Susan Coffey and AGpO’s Dr. Charles Young. So many opportuni-ties are available for you to keep you ahead of the lions. But if there is one three-day event you do not want to miss that is the AOS & AGpO Annual Meeting. Only here can you hear over 15 of the top lectures in GP and pediatric orthodontics as well as have the opportunity to be able to talk and meet with dozens of industry part-ners and vendors who can keep you up-to-date on what products are new, more efficient and time saving. So start putting together your continuing education calendar for 2012. As the saying goes, it is not enough to do your best, you must know what to do and then do your best. We are committed to helping you with your orthodontic continu-ing education. Choose from one of our many opportunities available to learn what to do to stay at the front of the pack and do your best!
