And this all occurs due to light steady forces being applied to the teeth and alveolus with a series of arch-wires which increase from a small round nitinol at the start and finish in a large rectangular stainless steel archwire to finish. Adding the Nitanium Palatal Expander increases the forces to the edge of trauma but does not pop the suture. It increases the light steady force to a heavier but still steady pressure on the alveolar bone and teeth. Figs. 12-14 show a seven year old child whose arch was developed and expanded by light steady pressure. Figs. 15-17 show this same light steady expansion and remodeling on a 15-year-old teen. Figs. 18-21 show this expansion and remodeling working with the treatment of a thirty year old adult. Bone remodeling occurs with all age groups.
