ORTHOBITES ittle did I know, when I learned one of the topics for this journal was digital models, how personal this topic would become to me so quickly!! One of the practices I work in recently acquired a new owner so I began cleaning out some stone models to take over to storage. I had not been in this storage unit for over two years. When I opened the door, Figs. 1 and 2 show what I found. No, I did not make this up folks. There were 8 boxes of my stone models that, over the past few years, were not able to support the weight of the models resting on top of them. And yes, those are $50 per set stone models now scattered all over the floor of the unit. What I thought would be a 10 minute visit turned into a 3 hour marathon. Matching models with models – assessing damage – and needing an anger management therapy session filled my time at the unit. But I finally got things back into place and I realized that I probably have enough stored plas-ter to gravel a five hundred foot driveway or make several swimming pools of white slurry water! Digital is here. In December, 2011, we decided to make the switch to Digital models. HALLELUJAH!!! It was the best decision I have made in orthodontics since I originally added orthodontics to my practice in 1988 and then in 2005 limited myself to only treating orthodontic/TMD patients. There are many fine companies out there. The one we chose was OrthoSelect (866-695-3319) out of American Fork, Utah. They offered us three free sets; modemed into b;" d;c;# !f;#f;"#c;f; f;"b;"e;f; d; c;#b; a;"# #!e;"#!#!d; !d;b;"d;# b;e;"d;c;#f; f;f; f;"#a;d;!!#c;#!e;#f;"#f; " e;#f;"#c;f;!e;"#b;!a;"c;e; !a; #f;"#c; b;"#a;d;!! e;# "#!e;a;#a;f; e;#c; Fig. 3b Fig. 3a www.orthodontics.com www orthodontics com May/June May/ y / J une 2013 15
