CONTRIBUTOR BIOGRAPHIES Chris Baker, RN, DMD is a Diplomate of the American Orthodontic Society. She graduated from University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and completed both her specialty residency in Pediatric Dentistry, and her fellowship in the Department of Orthodontics at University of Connecticut. Dr. Baker is a senior lecturer for the AOS; her orthodontic courses are popular with both pediatric and general dentists, where they learn comprehensive orthodontics and craniofacial orthopedics from early treat-ment to the treatment of the full adult dentition. Dr. Baker is President of the AOS and serves on the continuing education committee of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Currently, Dr. Baker is a clinical professor at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and practices pediatric dentistry and orthodontics in Lexington, KY. Ben Burris, DDS, MDS has a private practice in Arkansas. He graduated from UT Memphis in 2004 and lives in Jonesboro with his wife and two children. Dr. Burris spends a great deal of time writing and speaking to residents about the business of orthodontics. Carapezza, DMD is a Diplomate of the AOS and has over 25 years of clinical experience in pediatric orthodontics and operates a successful private practice in Wayland, MA. He has degrees from Brandeis University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He served as a Teaching Fellow at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and received a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Children’s Hospital. Dr. Carapezza is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and a contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry. His lecture experience includes the Senior Certified Instructor for both the American Orthodontic Society (AOS) and International Association for Orthodontics (IAO). Juan Carlos Echeverri, DDS, FAOS is the owner of Echeverri Dental Center in Houston, TX. Fluent in English and Spanish, he has made presentations in Colombia, Venezuela, Spain and the USA in prosthesis, implants and orthodontics including dental education for patients. Echeverri is the creator and director of the dental education outreach program for the schools surrounding his practice. He is a member of the Greater Houston Dental Society, Texas Dental Society, American Orthodontic Society, American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. Elsa Alfonzo-Echeverri, DDS, FAAPD is the Vice President of Echeverri Dental Center in Houston TX. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is an international speaker having made presentations in Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Spain and the USA. After receiving her DDS degree at the University of Zulia in 1982 in Venezuela, she finished her Pediatric Residency at LSU in 1988. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry and The American Orthodontic Society. Dr. Jeffrey Gerhardt, DDS practices general dentistry and orthodontics in Cedar Park, TX. Graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio in 1992, he acquired two years of continuing educa-tion in orthodontics with the Academy of Gp Orthodontic in 1998 and gained Invisalign certificating in 2002. Dr. Gerhardt is an orthodontic instructor for the Academy of Gp Orthodontics, publishing numerous articles on the subject.
