This great space will be the perfect long term head- quarters for the Academy. Our direc- tors had been carefully watching the location, waiting for the best time to acquire the property for the best price. Our new address will be: 509 E. Boydston St., Suite A Rockwall, TX 75087-3956 Dr. Charles Young will be teach- ing the Academy’s three-day assis- tant’s course in Addison, TX, on July 29-August 1, 2010, with an optional Sunday session on Cephalometric tracing and model analysis. The course is intended for assis- tants with little orthodontic train- ing, as well as a refresher course for the more experienced assis- tants. The course will give the chair-side assistant a better under- standing of orthodontics and the Differential Straight-Arch tech- nique. Assistants will be working in pairs on study casts from their office along with typodonts from the Academy. Assistants will learn how to apply brackets, bands and auxil- iaries using the Tip-Edge® System. New Academy Office Location Dr. Young will cover the Tip-Edge® stages of treatment, tracing of cephalometric x-rays, and model analysis of arch length discrepancy. The Academy will provide a T.P. supply kit, which includes bracket kits, a straight shooter and carousel dispenser (a $315 value for these items alone, which you take home). A list of additional supplies needed from your office will be sent with the course confirmation. This year’s course will meet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The lodg- ing is available with reservations made through the Academy. Course seating is limited. Registration dead- line is June 29, 2010. Orthodontic Apprenticeship Dr. Ron Austin is looking for member graduates of a two-year AGpO hands-on course willing to commit to at least one day per month (Tue., Wed. or Thurs.) from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The minimal commitment is for three months. During this time, you will learn more orthodontics in a very busy orthodontic practice.Your day will begin by reviewing the day’s patients. From 10-4 pm, you will see and treat patients in treatment. From 4:00-4:30 pm each day, Dr. Austin will be avail- able to discuss cases.
