AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Continuing Education Around The Corner In Texas This is my last president's letter, and I want to give "kudos" to Dr. Greg Cannizzo who faithfully produces this journal for us every other month (and faithfully reminds me to write this president's letter). I am told by Greg that this is the largest edition of the journal that has ever been produced! This is an indication of the growth of our organization and its relevance toward continuing education. Our Annual Meeting is coming up October 29-30 in Addison, TX. I hope everyone can attend. I never miss an Annual Meeting. It is my chance to keep up-to-date on orthodontics and to keep in touch with a large number of good friends that I have made over the years. The year’s meeting will feature Dr. Sylvan Morein who will speak Friday about ‘When to Extract and When Not to Extract in the Tip Edge Technique’. Dr. Morein is a past president of the IAO. He is an IAO Senior Certified Instructor and has been teaching orthodontic seminars since 1971. Also speaking on Friday are Dr. Jeffery Gerhardt and Dr. Bert Vasut. Both doctors spoke at last year’s annual meeting and it will be a great to hear them speak on Mixed Dentition this year. On Saturday. we have the opportunity to hear Mike Cornell from the Levin Group speak on Practice Management. With the difficulties that have occurred with our present economy, sharpening your management skills are a must to bring you and your practice to the next level. Another topic of interest to all our members is the Academy's website. Adam Griswald, our Executive Director, is coordinating with Affiniscape to imple-ment a completely new website. He tells me that it will feature a members-only portal with a Tip-Edge forum moderated by Academy instructors, the ability to track continuing education hours earned from both the Academy and elsewhere, enhanced course and meeting registration, and much more. Almost instant access to our great instructors and the ability to better track our orthodontic CE will make this a much anticipated upgrade with our new website. Things are definitely looking great for the Marc Dandois, DDS AGpO President Academy. All of our outstanding courses are filling up with doctors interested in treating orthodontic patients. That includes our Austin, TX course, Rock-wall, TX course and our assistant's course. I look forward to seeing all of you at our Annual Meeting in Addison. Your President, Marc Dandois, DDS 2010 Orthodontic Apprenticeship Dr. Ron Austin is looking for member graduates of a two-year AGpO hands-on course willing to commit to at least one day per month (Tue, Wed or Thurs) from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The minimal commitment is for three months. During this time, you will learn more orthodontics in a very busy orthodontic practice. Your day will begin at 9 am reviewing the day’s patients. From 10-4 pm, you will see and treat patients in treatment. From 4-4:30 pm, Dr. Austin will be avail-able to discuss cases.
