AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS AOS Institute Open: Educational Opportunities Expand Susan B. Tiede, DDS AOS President Happy Spring to everyone in the AOS family! Where I am in Missoula, MT, we are still in the peak of winter with snow and cold weather. The bright news is that, after much talk and work, the new American Orthodon-tic Society Institute is open for business! The expertise of our dedicated instructors and the commitment of our members to education have come together in our new home base. It is only fitting that the inaugural class in the new facility was with Dr. Brad Williams, who has been a rock for the AOS through these past several years. Unfortunately, due extreme winter conditions, I was unable to make my trip for the unveiling. However, reports from instructors, students and administrative support all conclude that the facility is AMAZING! By the time of this publication, I will have had the privi-lege of seeing everything firsthand, so I’ll report in our next edition. I’ve been reflecting on the mission statement of the AOS: “To maintain professionalism by providing continuous orthodontic education, mentoring, consul-tation, credentialing, and recognition for dentists and auxiliaries throughout the world”. Rest assured that the Board of Directors is not ready to stop now that the center is complete. This new chapter is a real motiva-tion to keep our foot on the gas pedal and continue to hone in on this mission. The sense of obligation to our members on providing top quality education and resources is stronger than ever. With that, I hope everyone has been looking ahead to take new courses or a refresher in a course you’ve previously attended. The AOS website has all the information regarding upcoming classes. I hope you are planning to attend the Spring Meeting on April 12-13 in the new facility. A total of 16 orthodontic hours of CE credit can be earned this particular week-end. Reach out to colleagues to share the excitement of learning and performing excellent orthodontic care for our patients. The AOS continues to grow each day, and with it, the character of the organization and its members. Again, I am humbled to be your current AOS President and look forward to the year ahead. If you have any comments, questions or concerns, the AOS administra-tion is always available to you. Please feel free to reach out to me directly as well (sbtiede64@gmail.com). Hope to see you all this year!
