AGpO MEMBERSHIP NEWS Academy Turns 25 This Year; Still Strong & Growing The New Year is upon us, and everyone is fresh with resolutions. My resolution for all of us is for everyone to make 2013 a fabulous year! There is much to celebrate. With a flip of the calendar, we find ourselves in an important anniversary year. Twenty-five years ago, the Academy of Gp Orthodontics got its humble beginning in the State of Texas under the direction of our founder Dr. Charles Yates. Look at us now; we are all grown up!! What better way to acknowledge this mile-stone, than to come and celebrate and congratu-late each other this Spring at our Spring Refresher Roundup in Plano, TX! It doesn’t matter whether you are involved in a committee or a member at large, because without any of you, the Academy would not be here. So this April make your way to Texas to say hello, congratulate everyone for a Fred Der, DDS job well done and receive two AGpO President days of Tip-Edge lectures and troubleshooting. Adam and the Academy’s Education Committee have put together a line up of your favorite instructors on topics that are relevant and useful for your every-day Tip-Edge procedures. Of course, for those who can’t wait until April, consider enrolling in Dr. Austin’s five-session advanced course in his office in Tishamingo, Oklahoma. It was a huge success last year and is back again for this year due to popular demand. Of course, no resolution is successful without the help of your staff and love ones. Be kind to them. See you all in Texas, home of the AGpO, for a homecoming refresher in April. Fred Der New Early Treatment Course; Starts This Spring instruct this two-day, yearlong course. Course topics will include early orthodontic diagnosis; record taking on young children; treat-ment planning for early crowding; space analyses in the mixed denti-tion; case selection which patients benefit from early treatment; appli-ance design and selection; facial profile analysis; review of dental development and facial growth; airway assessment in relation to facial growth; treatment strategies; retention after Phase I; early treat-ment of Class I, Class II and Class III patients; treatment timing when to start; and strategies for success when working with kids. This hands-on course will provide you with the knowledge and tools needed to bring this treatment to the parents in your practice who have been asking for correction of their younger child’s problems and the patient who have not realized how important this treatment can be to their child’s facial development.
