AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS Sharpen Your Skill Sets; AOS Is Link To Education & Networking Philosopher and psychologist, William James, once said, “A chain is no stronger than its weakest link, and, life is, after all a chain”. I realize that the American Orthodontic Society is a link in that endless chain, no stronger and no weaker than the talent and commit-ment of our members. The better we teach and mentor you, the more your orthodontic practice matures, and the more your patients respond to your care. You need strong education and encouragement and we need strong members………..”Life after all is a chain”. AOS courses offer cutting-edge mechanics, innova-tive ideas, thought-provoking and sometimes provoca-tive discussions, all designed to help you rise above the crowd. Who has ever seen or participated in a Dr. Bill Wyatt impromptu “hallway” session without admiring one of the most dedicated and talented practitioners that has ever banded a case? Who has ever listened to Dr. David Jackson or Dr. Chris Baker without wonder-ing if they could reach that level of knowledge? The AOS is truly an amazing assortment of individuals of all backgrounds, interests and skill sets that form the mightiest GP orthodontic chain in the America. The association and its newest partner, the Academy of Diplomates, offers one of the finest Mitch Parker, DDS AOS President credentialing programs in dentistry. The chain gets stronger with every link! As we look forward to 2012, the AOS leadership team understands the economic challenges to dentistry, but counts its blessings for the commitment of our instructors, for a talented professional staff, for a dental community that is more accepting than ever of GP and Pediatric orthodontics, and for the opportunities that still lie just beneath the surface. We promise to be in as many cities as possible, to look for ways to improve how we service our membership, and to keep growing our educational and credentialing programs to make YOU stronger. On a final note, please mark your calendars now for the Annual Meeting in Memphis, October 4-7, 2012. I’m proud to host it in my hometown and promise you a great Tennessee experience. Here’s to a wonder-ful 2012! Mitch Parker, DDS www.orthodontics.com January/February 2012 45
