AOS MEMBERSHIP NEWS Here’s to the Next 50 Years! Happy Fall everyone --what a wonderful year it has been! It was my great privilege to serve as the 2023-2024 AOS Presi-dent. This year’s Annual Meeting was a fantastic end to my tenure. Attendance was nearly double what it was in 2023, and we only anticipate things growing the next 50 years. Susan B. Tiede, DDS It goes without saying that Nate and the Jameson Group AOS President were above and beyond in the planning and preparation for this meeting. Special thanks to Khaliya, Emilie, McKenzie, Dan, Josh and Iris --their dedication to AOS and caring for our members is remarkable. What a joy to celebrate our new facility AND celebrate 50 years of the AOS, such positive energy. The 1970s-themed costumes were a lot of fun! To combine that with recognizing the founders and staunch longtime supporters of the AOS was great. We will never be able to express enough gratitude to Dr. Bill Wyatt, Dr. Lenny Carapezza or Dr. Brad Williams for their dedication --the AOS continues to be strong and successful because of their unwavering support and guidance these past years. Thank you! I had the good fortune to meet several members who had not attended a meeting in 'a few years. I was so proud to 'brag' about where the organization is going and was so incredibly moved to hear their excitement at becoming active in the organization once again. The energy of our group is palpable, and it is gaining more and more momentum. We ARE the group to be a part of...let's keep recruiting. Recruiting for more continuing education and recruit-ing more members. It is so important to give feedback on the courses you complete, as well as the meeting lectures. We want to hear what you liked, what you did not like, what you want for the future, and what may not be as important in your education at the present time. We can continue to grow and improve with input from ALL of our members. The unveiling of the AOS app for smartphones was informative. If you have not yet downloaded it, go to the App store and do so. The constant website upgrades and improvements make it easier to stay connected not only to the organization, but to our peers and to excellent training. Be sure to utilize your app and go to orthodontics.com to check out upcoming course schedules. Classes in orthodontics, dentistry and medicine continue to expand and become more diverse. The AOS is becoming our one-stop resource for training. We set a goal to reinvent ourselves, and we have done just that. We are still the American Orthodontic Society that has been around for 50 years. With our new leadership, Institute, Board of Directors, and reorganization of our Diplo-mate track, we are emerging better, more professional, and stronger than ever. I can't wait to see what the future holds; I am thrilled to be a part of it. It is with great humility that I say goodbye to my year as President and move to a position of support of our new AOS President, Dr. Greg Cannizzo. We are in great hands as we continue to move forward. Mark your calendars for next year's Annual Meeting to be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas on Sept. 18-20, 2025. Here's to the next 50 years!
