What a blessing it has been getting to know so many of you over the past decade! I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you and invite everybody to our 2021 Annual Meeting located in, what many consider to be one of the best cities in America: Austin, TX. AGpO’s 2021 meeting will be held on September 23-25 at the newly rebranded Stephen F. Austin Royal Sonesta Hotel. Located in the heart of downtown near the State Capital Building, this iconic hotel has been a hallmark of the Austin skyline for many decades. You will be located within walking distance of many attractions including the Sixth Street Entertainment District, consisting of a dozen city blocks of live music venues, pubs and restaurants. Austin is known as the “Live Music Capital of the World”, so there is always an event nearby for your listening pleasure! Speakers for this event will be Dr. Ron Austin, a long-standing instructor of the Academy, and Dr. Messias Rodrigues, a Brazilian orthodontist. Dr. Austin will be speaking on impacted canines, Austin Protraction Technique, Subdivision cases, and finishing pearls of wisdom. Dr. Rodriguez will be discussing his Simplified Straight-Wire Technique. The Academy has updated our website, www.acade-mygportho.com, and it is fabulous to say the least! We are so excited to direct you to this web address for all your GP Orthodontic needs. Our popular Assistant’s Course for dental auxiliaries has been rescheduled for Spring 2021. I have to say that reaching out in the digital world is the way of the future, but this is only one aspect of our Academy. I personally reached out 10 years ago, spoke with a wonderful lady, Cynthia Bordelon, who encouraged me to consider AGpO and explained to me how exciting the 12-session program would be for my practice. Dr. Robert Allen and his team more than welcomed me as they took a personal interest in me as an individual and fellow dentist. Our Academy is not just an online world; but also a place for camaraderie and support, with a personal touch that says, “we care”. As AGpO President, I look forward to a commit-ted effort of orthodontic excellence through this community of dentists and the digital world we find ourselves in! Scott C.
